I made some doggie cupcakes for Knox’s birthday this past Friday on August 1st. I didn’t want to make too many and I wanted to make sure that they were healthy for an animal. So I did a little research and came up with the recipe below. We also took Knox to PetSmart and let him choose a toy to play with. We always get Kong brand because it is tough and Knox loves to rip shit apart.
Recipe:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
1/4 applesauce
1/4 cup honey
1/4 peanut butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 egg
Topping:
Peanut butter
Bone pieces from dog food
Mix ingredients. Set oven to 350 degrees. Spray cupcake pan with nonstick spray. Pour into cupcake pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Let cool. Spread peanut butter on top.
Also here some of my favorite photos from this past year of Knox. I love this doggie so much and I know that it might be so cheesy to celebrate dog birthdays but he is our little boy and we really like him. Anyways enjoy.
love, Carlee
Omg, this is the cutest idea ever. I have cats... guess I'd just switch up the recipe to tuna! :P

ReplyDeleteI'll definitely have to try one of the Kong Braids because I'm lucky if my dog lasts a week with those braids. :) Saved this recipe for my doggy's upcoming birthday!
I found your blog through A Beautiful Mess and love your doggy cupcakes! I'll have to remember this for my little Junie B!

What! These look so cute and easy! I made a cake for my pup once, but it was from a doggy cake mix box because I ran out of time to come up with a homemade recipe. Definitely keeping this for future use! Also, Knox is so adorable. He has gotten so big!

I may have missed it, but how many does this make? I have 3 doggies and wouldn't want to not have enough. It shows 2 pictured, so if it only makes two, I will double the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI made 6 regular sized cupcakes
DeleteHi, I am a first timer and like to find out what size these cupcakes are and what kind of tray to use. Try buying a tray realizing that there are so many different sizes and amounts per tray.
ReplyDeleteMine came out like a dough not a batter is that right?
ReplyDeleteMade it for my dog's birthday as well ☺
ReplyDeleteDo you have to make the oatmeal or is it just oats you add into the mixture ??
ReplyDeleteI adore a person that loves their pets.
ReplyDeleteOurs are our children as well.
Thank you all that really love your babies ❤
Hi there!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are sooooooo cute!
My dog loves it when I put chocolate chips ( designed specifically for dogs, don't worry ) in the cupcakes and drizzle some on the top!
Thanks so much for the cute recipe!
Btw I love your dog!
Is the applesauce and peanut butter cups or tablespoons?
