We have been having a major heat wave here in the Sandhills of NC. It reached 102 degrees on Tuesday and it has been at least 99 degrees the last two days! We even went out for ice cream at 8:30pm the other night and it was still 97 degrees with the sun down. So yeah, crazy heat wave. And it’s not suppose to cool down any time in the near future, according to my iPhone weather app there is highs of 97-100 until next Friday!
So yeah I will be staying inside in the nice Air Conditioned apartment or car or restaurants haha. We also have plans to swim in the river this weekend! It is gonna be a hot one. But I think the river, some watermelon, and splashing around with my dog will be pretty great.
This is one of my favorite tank tops but I don’t wear it often because it is pretty shear and I need the right bra so it is not to noticeable. But I do LOVE the detail around the collar of this tank. Also I am getting better at this hairstyle. This is the second time I have tried it and I already feel like I can do a pretty good job, although the back is probably a monstrosity! haha but I can’t see it so it’s all good. And yes, this photos are way over edited but I had a little too much fun in photoshop!

The beach might be one of North Carolina best assets! I think Nicholas Sparks got it right to base all his books on the North Carolina coast. It is beautiful! On Saturday, we headed down toward Wilmington and went to the Carolina Beach area which we have never been too before. I also heard GREAT things about Britts Donuts like they don’t have a bad review on Yelp or Google it’s nuts. We got donuts first thing and there was no line just a few people sitting at the counter. I was happy about this because I heard that the line can be around the block. We ordered a dozen donuts and 2 cups of milk. I would say that the milk isn’t worth getting. Its small and just kept in the fridge. Another than that though the donuts were great! They were very yummy and warm.
After that we headed down to the beach to lay out on the sand and enjoy some time in the sun. I packed a lunch for us to take, which was 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches, watermelon, potato chips and water. It was very yummy. It was so hot out that once we got our towels laid out all I wanted to do was run into the ocean. The sand was so hot on my feet.
One of the best parts was finding jelly fish in the water. We found 3 jelly fish that were white/clear. Clark touched one and said it didn’t sting, do only the pink ones sting? And the top doesn’t sting right. Clark was saying how he felt like Spongebob being a jelly fish catcher haha. It was pretty great. Really the only thing I know about jellyfish is from Finding Nemo or Spongebob. Probably not the best sorce of information haha. Also the Pelican behind us! How cool is he? Just chilling on the pier.

Last week on Thursday, Clark’s military battalion had a family picnic at Raven Rock State Park. It as midday and SO hot and humid! But it was really fun to hang out with people I already knew and meet Clark’s friends and wives that I didn’t know. We had hotdogs and hamburgers with chips, pop, brownies, and cheesecake! We threw the football with kids, played cornhole, and got to play with some doggies that were there.
After we ate we headed down on the trail to the river. We have been to Raven Rock State Park two other times. One to Linear Falls and the other to the actually Raven Rock. But this was the shortest trail down to the river and it was so awesome! There were really flat rocks that went almost all the way out in the river. Of course the guys couldn’t help but get out in the middle of the river and take a photo! Cause guys are still boys at heart haha.
But I am so excited to take Knox back there have play in the river with him. It was pretty shallow and there were lots of areas to lay out towels on rocks. It was just a very cool area and only .9 miles from the parking area so yeah not so bad. So next time Clark has a long weekend we are gonna go. It’s now one of the top things to do on my summer list!
