Ketchup, Mustard, Hotdog DIY Halloween Costumes

I think in my 22 years on this earth these are my favorite Halloween costumes that I have worn. I made the ketchup and mustard bottles that Clark and I are wearing and purchased Knox’ hotdog costume from 1800petmeds.com for $4.50 in July. I think this was originally Clark’s idea like “Knox should be a hotdog for Halloween.” And I was like yes. I stayed up late last Saturday night working on Clark and mine costumes and when they were finished I wanted to show the whole world (my social media) right away. But I knew I should wait. On Tuesday Clark and I went to a Halloween event put on my Clark’s battalion on base and we got 1st place for all the adult costumes. I was super excited!

Cost:
-Hotdog dog costume: $4.50 (I bought it in July)
-Poster board $.99 (each) x 6= $6.00
-More poster board= $6.00
-Velcro= $2.00

Total Cost: $19.00

Other supplies:
Packing tape
Duct tape
Birthday Hats (cone shaped)
Red paint
Yellow paint
Printer
Paper

Directions sort of:
I tapes 4 pieces of poster board together (found at Michaels and Office Depot) to make the bottle shape. I cut holes were the arms went and reinforced with clear packing tape so the holes didn’t rip. I used Velcro to put on the opening of the poster board so we could easily get in and out of the costume. And I printed of the labels in 4 sections and carefully cut and tapes them together then tapes from on the front of the bottles. If you have any questions let me know. Oh the tops are just birthday hats that I painted with yellow and red paint that I had.

Disposable Camera || Roll 2

I got my second disposable camera roll back yesterday! I went to Walgreens this time instead of Rite Aid and I will definitely be going to Walgreens from now on. My prints only costed $10 for (25) and it came with a free CD of all the prints so I got to easily put them on my computer.

I have learned that I take my sweet time when I am using a disposable camera. I want each photo to be different and unique and I have also realized that I like the photos that tell more of a story and aren’t just selfies of Clark and I. So I will have to work on that more with the next batch of photos. Also I can’t be afraid to ask our friends to take a photo of Clark and I if we are out somewhere. Usually when I pull out my disposable camera my friends and family are like ‘what are you doing with that.’ Haha who can blame them though. Anyways out of 25 most came back pretty good. Here are my favorite.

My favorites:
-I absolutely love the 2 photos of my family in Vegas, even if my eyes are semi closed in one of them.
-I also love the last photo of Knox. He just looks so happy and the sky is SO blue and the grass is REALLY green. Makes for a cool photo.
-On the last roll I only posted 12 of the photos and this time I posted 15 so I think I am getting better at my disposable camera taking ability. I think for me it is more about the composition.
-I also really like the one of Clark holding the bowling shoes where my figure got in the way. hehe
-And the first one were I caught Knox in mid jump.

View disposable roll 1. I finished the last roll mid June and this roll at the end of October so it will probably be end of December before I finish another. I enjoy that though and I also enjoying forgetting what photos are on the camera until I get the roll back. These photos will be cherished.

A walk in the park

Yesterday, Knox and I ventured out to Clark Park for a little exercise and some nature viewing. I was hoping the leaves would be more turned but they aren’t. It is still rather green here in NC and I know I should be enjoying that because soon enough it will be all brown for 3 months straight. But I can’t help but envy the northern states a little bit on there beautiful fall colors. I know that last year we got our fall colors closer to mid November and I guess that will have to do again. I guess you can’t really beat 75 degrees and low humidity here in NC so I won’t complain to much. 

I would love to say that our walk was awesome and magical. It was nice but far to many times Knox was pulling on the leash too hard or when I would stop to take a photo he would decide he wanted to run and chase a squirrel and my arm would almost get pulled off and I would get mad and it would happen again in 10 minutes. Also it was around 75-80 degrees yestereday. I had a cardigan on and it was too hot for that.

Overall though it was nice to get out of the house and explore a little. Clark is in the field this week so it is just Knox and I at home. However Clark and I did get to go to a Halloween event put on by Clark’s battalion last night and we won first place in the costume contest!! I will be posting more/better photos of our costumes of Friday.

Mugs and Christmas cards // in the shop

Hey everyone! So like 10 days ago now I realesed my first line of hand painted mugs for my shop Little Sloth. It is no longer just a greeting card shop! I am switching my mind set from thinking Little Sloth cards to Little Sloth Co. as I want to add more and more products other than greeting cards while keeping my brand. I think these first three mugs do that really well and I am in love with them. They are all hard draw by my husband and then printed, pressed, and sealed in house by me. They are not dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended. They are also not customizable. What you see in the photo is what you get.

Other than mugs, my Christmas card line is in the shop and my favorite as to be the Hide Yo Nuts Nutcracker card. I think it is hilarious. I also like the we go together like hot cocoa and Christmas cookies card. I can’t wait to make candy cane cookies with my mom when we go back to Washington for xmas is December. There are 12 Christmas card total. 8 new cards and 4 of the best sellers from last year.

Pumpkin patch

On Friday, Clark and I headed to the pumpkin patch which is actually this same place. They switch from flowers in the spring and summer to pumpkins and mums in the fall to Christmas trees in the winter. It is awesome. We knew we wanted to carve our pumpkins sometime this weekend so getting them on Friday after work was the best choice. 

Clark picked a really tall pumpkin and I picked a short round one with a cool stem. We carved them up on Saturday and had to wait until Sunday to light them because we didn’t have any candles. I did a happy smiling face on my pumpkin and Clark did Frankenstein which was perfect because of how tall his pumpkin was. I just googled ‘pumpkin carving patterns’ and found some cute ones we liked and I printed them out on my printer and we carved away. Here are the pumpkins we did last year. 

I finally pulled out my orange skinny jeans this year. Fall always feels like the perfect time to wear them. I also was looking for a plaid scarf it was on my ‘I would like to have this in my closet’ list. I actually found one like a month or two ago on F21.com for $6 so I snatched it up and this is my first time wearing it. I love it and it is actually really soft and comfy for only being $6. After the pumpkin patch we headed downtown to meet some friends for the zombie walk. We didn’t actually do the walk but it was fun to see all the zombie. Next year I totally want to. Did you do anything fun and festive this weekend?

Vegas Snapshots

Here are the rest of my las vegas snapshots. These are all iPhone photos and represent our time in Vegas a lot better than the last three post. We honestly had the best time. And if you are ever thinking about going to Vegas 3 days is enough. By day 3 we were so tired, our feet hurt really bad, and I could feel myself getting a sore throat. I don’t see how people stay for a week or 2 (well they probably don’t go as hard every day.) This is my last post from our Vegas trip and I have been loving reliving our trip as I am home trying to fight off this dang head cold.

Fountains at Bellogio: We saw the fountains on Thursday night. It was awesome. They played along to Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen. We actually saw them go off to 3 different songs in a 15 minute span. Last time I was there I thought they only went off every 15 minutes.

David Spade and Ray Romano Stand-up Comedy: We got to see David Spade and Ray Romano preform some stand-up on Friday night. They were really good. We were standing outside the theater probably 45 minutes before the show waiting for our whole group (11 of us total) and my oldest brother goes “that guy looks a lot like David Spade” and we turned around and I yelled and pointed “oh my gosh that’s David Spade” while he walked past us 10 feet away. He threw us up the peace sign and went on his way. It was awesome. I thought Ray Romano improvised more which I liked and also had more Vegas specific jokes which was funny. Although David Spade had one joke about getting lost in the MGM and it was hilarious especially since that is where we were staying so it hit close to home. haha

Gambling: I think our favorite place to play was the Excalibur. We went over there to see if the table minimum was cheaper (it wasn’t) but Clark ended up winning $140 at Black Jack. I lost $45 dollars the trip at Roulette and a stupid Deal or No Deal slot (never again.) My family was all there playing different games so that was the best part. And each time someone got a 21 I yelled Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. And my family all sighed haha but I would say “if I can’t do it in Vegas, where can I do it.” The answer would be nowhere.

Shopping: We didn’t do much shopping. I did get some souvenirs and we did walk around the Miracle Mile mall at Planet Hollywood. We also got our caricature done there. If you want to get a caricature in Vegas that is the place to do. I actually did one at the same place 3 years ago when I went with my family. There are tons of places to shop though. It’s like they know people are coming with money to blow.

Drinks: Fat Tuesdays and Big Chill are my favorites. Both have giant tall slushy drinks so you walk around looking like tourist but that is the fun part. Fat Tuesdays is cheaper so go there!

Nightlife: We went to a new place right outside the New York New York called Diablo. They tell you that there is no cover charge but as soon as you enter they make you buy a $20 drink so yeah. But it was fun, good music and lots of dancing. We were trying to go to Coyote Ugly but the line was too long also there is a rad piano bar in the New York New York that my brother really wanted to go to. We didn’t end up going because we got there too late for admission to be worth it but it looked fun (next time.) 

Misc.: If you don’t want to walk as much take the trams (one goes from Aria - Bellagio) and one goes from (Excalibur- Mandalay Bay) or if you want to go from MGM to Stratosphere take the Monorail which starts at the back of the MGM way cheaper than a cab and saves your feet. Also take a cab from the airport and not the hotel shuttle. The cab only cost us $12 from airport to MGM and took about 15 minutes were at the shuttle cost $10 per person and can take anywhere from 30min-2 hours. So the cab is always the way to go. Also, the New York New York roller coaster has a military discount so you get the $14 tickets for just $7 (FYI: if your in the military.) 

Next time we go to Las Vegas I would love to experience Fremont Street at night and maybe go to the Neon Sign Museum.
