’Tis the season

Finally! So the holiday season has officially begun. I know people can decorate whenever or start celebrating whenever. But for me, the end of Thanksgiving marks the start of the holiday season and I think I am in the majority when feeling that way. My family never put up a Christmas tree before Thanksgiving ever... and my Dad would always want to hold off as long as possible. Clark and I went to a xmas tree lot to get our Christmas tree on Friday. First we headed to downtown Fayetteville to enjoy the Christmas festivities. The whole community comes together and does Dicken’s Christmas. I shared photos last year from it.
After downtown we headed to the Christmas tree lot and searched for the perfect Christmas tree. It didn’t take us long to find it and it only cost $26. We argued for a while about what Christmas tree stand to get. I didn’t think it made since to get a stand that cost $49.99 we ended up getting one for $9.99 and it works perfectly. We brought the tree home and started decorating immediately. We will only have 3 weeks to enjoy our Christmas tree and home before we head back to WA for family Christmas festivities. Which I am super excited about. But it is also nice to celebrate the holidays with my husband and Knox.
Knox isn’t to sure about the tree. He has been good and not really bothering it but his nose will get to going and he’ll be stiffing away at the tree. So knock on wood that he behaves for the next 3 weeks while the tree is up and we are home. The majority of the tree is decorated with souvenior ornaments we have gotten from places that we have traveled this year and last. Like Myrtle Beach, Charleston SC, New York, Las Vegas, Florida, Gettysburg PA, Duke, Kitty Hawk, etc. And other than that most of the ornaments are handmade from last year.

365 project: November

For my 365 project this year my theme is: Clark and I or us. While October was the month of my favorite holiday Halloween, we took a long weekend trip to Las Vegas with my family, we hit up the dog park almost every weekend and we spent a lot of relaxing time at home. November was the month of cold weather, red lipstick, Thanksgiving, New York City, and matching PJs.

One more month to go. I am really ready to be done with this project. I am getting burnt out over here but I am finishing strong because I know how cool it will be to look back on the year and have so many photos of Clark and I from all different events. And if I can make it through 11 months I sure as hell can make it through 1 more month! So cheers to December and almost being down with this project. The crazy thing is, this year seemed to fly by! So I am over here like let this year be over already when in reality it seemed to go so fast! Our Thanksgiving (+ a Sale!!)

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was eventful and ended up being okay but not like I expected at all. I woke up early yesterday morning to get my overnight bread dough ready to bake and when I woke up I just felt super crumby. My stomach hurt and I was starting to get a head cold. Well I got my dough ready and then I got back into bed and fell asleep. Clark and I both woke up again around 10:30am and I knew we need to get up so we could get the turkey in the oven. I mean this was my first Thanksgiving dinner that I was making and we were having people over. So we got our turkey in around 11:30 and then my stomach started to feel worse. In the end I came down with the flu and ended up getting sick three times. I realized I as thankful for a husband that will help clean up throw up and also run to the gas station to get blue Gatorade (my fav when sick.)
So we had to disinvite the people to dinner which I was sad about but turns out they all had places they could go instead so that was good. Around 2:30 after some rest and medicine and blue Gatorade I started to feel better. Clark and I both finished up making the dinner. We finished the turkey, made some stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy, canned corn and fruit salad. I was going to make sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce but I nixed that idea when I got sick. We headed up eating and watching the parade and then football on TV. I felt better and ate some mashed potatoes and dinner rolls. Then this commercial came on TV and I was like that is this Thanksgiving to a T. Not what you expected but still perfect.
Anyways I know this photos aren’t glamours at all but I wanted to share them because I don’t want to look back on this blog or even on special events and only document the staged and beautiful times. Sometimes a girl just wanted to eat Thanksgiving dinner with no makeup and a big t shirt on. Happy Holidays y’all! Also a coupon for Little Sloth below!!
