Wild Lupin

Wild lupin is one of my favorite things about spring in Washington state! It is all over Okanogan country which is where my hometown is in Washington. And it is so beautiful. Turns out you don't need to travel to Iceland so see beautiful fields of wild lupin. Who knew? haha I got stung by a bee this day on my left ring figure luckily I got my wedding ring off my figure right away cause my figure swelled up to two times it's size (no exaggeration)  and my hand swelled and got itchy and red as well. It is finally going down and almost back to normal now. I actually took my dad's cat into the vet for a checkup and asked the vet to look at my hand as well haha. The vet didn't even hesitate. Perks of growing up in a small town.

I hope everyone is having a great start to there week! I think it is going to be a good one.

Home in eastern Washington

Just some random photos from the last couple weeks that I have been back in my hometown in eastern Washington state. I always put the state on the end of Washington because sometimes when I say Washington people think D.C. so I just say state so there is no confusion. These last couple weeks have been great. I have got to spend so much time with my family and explore some more of this beautiful state I grew up in and even watch my little brothers play lots of baseball! Oh and I got stung by a bee two days ago and my hand swelled up so much it was the worst. But it is going down now and I have been rubbing anti itching cream on it for the last 3 days haha. Spring time in Washington is really beautiful and I am glad that I chose this time of the year to come back and visit.

'49er Days

Do you guys know about Winthrop, WA? It is a cute little town up the Methow Valley in eastern Washington. All the buildings have to stay looking like an old western town. They have to get the signs and architecture approved by the city before people built anything because they want a nice and cohesive look. It is really fun. It is just an hour from my hometown and my mom actually owns a commercial building up there so she goes up about once a week. When I was a kid we used to drive through it every time we would visit my grandma on the coast. We would always stop and get ice cream at Sherri's and I am happy to say that Sherri's is still there and just as good as I remember in my childhood. Nostalgia.

There is a town celebration every year called 49er Days to celebrate the heritage of the people of Winthrop, WA. The first part it they do a trail ride that last several days and ends in Winthrop so these photos are from the day they made it to Winthrop and road through town before camping for the night. All the locals lined the streets to wave to the cowboys and girls that rode passed.

I loved seeing all the people and they looked like they were having the best time. I think that is the coolest part of the whole experience, it was just a big community experience even the people that weren't on the trail ride they were involved by getting to see and enjoy all the horses and wagons come through down.

Falls Creek Falls

Back in Washington State! This state really is so beautiful, all the time, but especially in the spring. Or at least I feel that way right now because it is so pretty all around. The wildflowers blooming on the hillsides, the river water high, all the birds, and wildlife. For the last couple of weeks before I got to America I was researching things to do and places to see in eastern Washington. Isn't it funny that you can live in a place your whole life but not explore the area very well. Well this place was one of the places I discovered when doing my research. It is only 12 miles from Winthrop, WA which my mom visits all the time. So one day when my mom had to go up to Winthrop we drove the 20 minute drive to Falls Creek Falls and did a little hiking.

There is a campground called Falls Creek Falls and you can find parking there. Then just across the street you will see a little paved trail. It is only about 500 meters to the first falls. It was running so fast and hard when we were there. There was so much water coming down that it was misting up. We had to hide behind the trees at points as not to get wet. My mom and I just kept laughing and she also made sure I didn't get too close to any edges haha. I love her so much and I am so happy I get to spend time with her for the next couple of weeks.

We continued on to another trail to hike up behind the falls. The trail was no longer paved but it was clearly marked and there was even some short cuts. We hiked to see the top of the first falls and there was even another falls! Not as big as the first one but just as pretty. We were also the only people up there hiking around so that was pretty cool. I loved the smell of the trees, it look me back to my childhood and all the camping we did as a family. Such good memories. If you are ever near Winthrop, WA and need a little day trip this is a fun spot.
