Martin Park

Hey there! On Monday, Knox and I headed to Southern Pines which is about 30 miles away to Martin Park. I was actually at our regular dog park over the weekend and one woman I was talking to mentioned this park in Southern Pines. So I went home and Googled it and turns out it is a 50 acre dog park its off leash and there are 2 streams and tons of trails! It was amazing.
When we got there Knox was a little hesitant because it was the first time we were there. I made friends right away with an older man who has two older dogs. Then when we got down to the stream there were more old men and more old dogs. I am pretty sure they have like an old mens club. They all knew each other and chatted away while their dogs played in the stream. After visiting with the old men for a while we made our way through some trails and found a really fun german shepherd and Knox and him played in the stream for a long while.
I thought it would be fun to share some photos here.  It was a good day and it is always nice to get out of the house and explore some different areas close to home! Happy Thursday.

Mid July

Hey guys, how’s it going? Over here is going good. There is another heat wave going on. I look at my iPhone weather app and it says 92 degrees and I am like it feels way hotter than that then I scroll down and it says “feels like 102 or 103” and I am like how can it be 92 but feel like 102? That is 10 degrees difference. It is the dang humidity!
I wore this outfit on Monday, I went to the mall to Kay Jewelers. Every year or so I have to get my wedding ring redipped and rohdium plated so that way it is restored to it’s former glory. Also I must be allergic to something in the white gold (maybe the nickel it is mixed with) because once it is worn down I get a rash on my finger :-/ which is not fun! I have got it redipped three times and the ring was purchased in 2012 so yeah it works to be about once every year. It sucks but I am glad that when Clark purchased the ring he got the lifetime warranty because it doesn’t cost anything! So yeah I have to wait on it for a couple weeks which is the hardest part.

Floral Tape Fridge // DIY

I picked up this decorative tape up at AC Moore craft store a while ago and last week I thought it would be perfect to spruce up the fridge! I love this because it is like washi tape but bigger! Also it is floral and I paid $4.99 per roll because it was on clearance at AC Moore so what could be better. I also picked up some small rolls of red and black and some pink striped. I went a little nuts but it was on clearance and I thought it might be perfect for sprucing up our next rental place when we move in a year.
Okay now on to the fridge.
You’ll need:

- 2 (you might need 3 - my fridge is short) rolls of this decorative tape.
- Scissors
- Towel / wipes to clean surface of fridge

Directions:
1. Clean surface of fridge really good before starting. If you use wet wipes or water make sure the surface is completely dry before starting.

2. Roll out the tape and cut off as much as you need.

3. The hardest part is cutting around the handles so that the tape lays nicely on the fridge.

4. If you need take a break, I did the whole fridge in like 4-5 hours because I did a couple strips then took a break. If I tried to do it all at once I would have drove myself crazy and just rushed through the end.

5. To get the tape to lay flat pull up the ends tightly on each side of the fridge and then slide a book or clipboard over the tape to remove any air bubbles.

6. That’s about it. Not a super hard DIY!
This is one of my favorites. The floral pattern is a little girly but I like it for now. It adds some freshness to our kitchen and it’s summer so tropical floral pattern seems like a great choice. I also wanted to try it out because I wanted to see how it would work and how long it would last. That way in our next place, I can plan accordingly! I’ll let you know how it holds up. What do you think?

June: Down on Paper Project

Hey y’all! If you are new here than checkout my past scrapbooking Down on Paper Projects here! June was a great month we got to hang with our friends so much! We ate ice cream, took Knox to the dog park, their were lightning storms, and tons of humidity. I went to a company picnic with Clark and we also went to the beach! One of my best friends down here had a birthday and Clark had staff duty. (Where we watched No Country for Old Men.)
We ate lots of watermelon and had a few rain downpours. Clark and I also took anniversary photos at the end of June. I got my passport  and we had another fun day at the river! We also went to a couple of movies, Jurassic World, Spy, and Inside Out. We usually don’t go to the movies and we went a lot so this month is definitely the month of the movie theater!
It was a good one! I am already done with week 1 and 2 of july which I am happy about. It feels good to stay caught up on projects. Another thing I realized is I’m probably going to need to get a bigger binder. Probably a 2 in. I didn’t realize how much space it would take up. I also recently bought some more scrapbooking stickers at Hobby Lobby that I am excited to use in July. Hope your day is great!

Year Two

Clark and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary on July 5th and at the end of June we took some second year anniversary photos. We did self timer photos again like we did last year and it was just perfect for some simple anniversary photos. We went out to Lake Rim which is about 15 minutes from our apartment around sunset! It was really perfect lighting unfortunately we didn’t wear bug spray and gone eaten to death by mosquitos.
Year two was a good one, it really was. We had so many adventures and did so many things. We got to travel and be with each other. We got to live and grow as a couple and as a family. It was great. I like documenting our life together. Taking photos of us growing up and growing together is one of my favorite things. I don’t always have the right words but I usually have a camera and like they say a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
On our actual anniversary we packed our bags and left the Marriot we were staying at in downtown Durham. We headed back to Fayetteville after a great long weekend in Durham. We got home and started laundry right away because Clark had to fly out the evening for a training mission. I was sad that he had to leave but that is why we got away the weekend before so we could spend all our time enjoying each others company. After the laundry was done, we went and picked up Knox. I don’t know if there is any greater feeling than picking up your dog after a few days. Knox is always SO happy to see us no matter what. Around 5pm we headed to the airport because Clark flew out that evening. It wasn’t dramatic our anything. Him being in the army there are way worse situation that could have fallen upon us. I am so lucky we got to have a good anniversary weekend and even be with each other for most of the day on our two year anniversary. Some people don’t even get that for various reasons and I count myself one of the lucky ones. Always.

The ballgame

So as you probably know by now, we spent our 4th of July at a baseball game in Durham NC. I love watching the Durham Bulls and 75% of that love comes from the movie Bull Durham, 15% comes from just my love of baseball, and 10% comes of my love of summertime and being outdoors. That added up to 100% right?

Since we stayed in a hotel in downtown Durham we just walked to the ballgame before it started. It was super nice to not have to worry about driving, parking, and getting home after the game especially since it was the 4th and all the people! Anyways we walked down to the ballpark about an hour early to get some food. We got Moe’s which was really good, although I spilled a little down the front of my brand new jersey but lucky it wasn’t too noticeable and also I got it out! So winning on the laundry front.

The ballgame was fun. Although Durham lost by 1. They ended up hitting 3 home runs but unfortunately no one else was on base during the home runs. We got Rita’s at the ballpark which is so great, they have the best italian ice and custard! After the game we waiting around to watch the fireworks and then after we walked back to the hotel! It was a great evening.

More summer lightning storms

These are my favorite lightning photos that I have captured so far! Last time there was good lightning near us Clark said “next time there is a good lightning storm, let’s go out to the forestry area behind our apartments.” So that’s just what we did. I took my camera and tripod and a plastic bag to keep the mild rain off while the long exposure was going. I caught some really great shots and it was fun. We also heard a ton of toads crocking and it was kind of freaking me out. Like we were invading their territory and they were mad at us. haha.

These photos are unedited. Straight from my DSLR camera to this blog post. I actually really do love these southern thunder and lightning storms. Although Knox (our dog) is not a fan at all!

Eno River State Park

Okay this is one of my favorite state parks in NC! Well I haven’t visited it all of them but of the ones I have visited this is definitely top 3. We didn’t see the whole park just one section but it was great. The river was only like .3 miles from the parking area and that alone might Clark say “this is the best state park we have been to” I must agree is is fun to not have to walk over a mile or more for the action (aka the river haha.)
There were lots of people at the state park. People in the river on tubs just chilling, kids playing in the rapids, people with their dogs. After we played in the rapids a little bit we walked the trail for a while and ended up seeing 3 turtles sitting on rocks sunbathing in the river. We didn’t walk the whole trail and after about a half mile we decided we were both hungry and hot and sweaty so we turned back.
On our way out of the trail we were on there were actually a bunch of trail maps and that when we realized that the state park is really big with like 4 different parking areas and a dozen hiking trails. So we only saw a sliver of Eno River State Park. I really want to do back and take Knox sometime. I think maybe in the fall when the humid dies down it would be a great place to go camping.
