Disposable Camera || Roll 3

Here are some of the photos from my disposable camera roll 3. I started this roll back in November and ended mid February. So yeah, I took 20 photos in a about 3 months which was cool when I got the roll back because it was fun to see those photos spread out over time. I get my rolls developed at Walgreens, you get a free CD and you can choose singles/doubles, etc. I got singles and which cost about $12.00. Anyways, here are the photos with a little explanation below each one. There is everything from when we went to NYC in November, to when we went back to WA in December and stuff in January.
At Dairy Queen in my knitted Seahawks hat.
Ordering Philly cheesesteaks in Philadelphia.
Happy hour at the rooftop bar VU right beneath the Empire State Building.
Best Pizza in NYC! I think a lot of shops claim this but this was pretty great.
Waiting for the Statue of Liberty ferry at Battery Park.
Olive Garden in NC with my love and some friends.
At the Loup Loup Ski Bowl in WA. Skiing with my little bro.
Waiting for our flight back to NC at Seatac airport.
At home with my doggie! I know he doesn’t look it, but he is thrilled.
Mellow Mushroom pizza in Fayetteville is our favorite.
Getting gas and Knox with his head out the window, which is his favorite.
Look at Clark peeking out surrounding all in black.
Empty theater to watch the movie Foxcatcher.
My birthday with my dog! Look at him celebrating with me.
Another bday pic.
You know just being an adult outside the grocery store.
Happy Friday. What do you think of the redesign so far? It has been long over due and I am loving it so far. There are a few more tweaks  in the making.

Winter Red

Winter is still going on strong here. It’s funny because usually in December the weather is pretty nice around 60 degrees here and then throughout January/February the temperature goes from 30-50 degrees. But here we are at the end of February and last week we had a big ice storm which caused everything to have a layer of ice of everything and Clark got off work for a day. Now this past Tuesday, I woke up to it snowing cats and dogs and the snow sticking on the ground. It was wonderful.
I knew that I had to go play in the snow with Knox a little because not only does it make for pretty photos but Knox LOVES the snow. He doesn’t seem to mind the cold at all and he runs around and rolls in the snow and just seems so darn happy to be out playing in the snow. Did you see this photo that I posted on instagram. He is like living the dream. Haha
I love the red outfit and lipstick against the snow. I wanted an excuse to wear red lipstick again and I thought this outfit was the perfect excuse. These duck books kept my feet so warm and dry. I was actually really impressed. We (Knox and I) were outside for probably 20-30 minutes and in the snow the whole time and the boots held up wonderfully. So recommended they are American Eagle mens boots. These photos were taken with a tripod and a self timer and I think they turned out great. Yay for snow pics, I actually didn’t think I was going to get any this year but I am so glad I did. And now I am ready for spring.

23 before 24

Hey guys so this is my third year doing this type of goal list and I really love it. I love being able to go back and see what I accomplished and also things that I thought were important that maybe weren’t as important as the year went on. I also like being able to set goals from February to February, instead of right at the beginning of the year in January. Since my birthday is February 12th, its the perfect time to set goals. (For me at least)

Lindy's

On Saturday we went to Lindy’s for brunch. It was our second time there, the first we went was Valentine’s Day and it was amazing so we went back. It’s really funny because the sign says pizza and spaghetti so we were a little skeptical at first but we gave it a shot. If you are ever in Fayetteville NC you seriously need to try this place. They serve breakfast all day everyday so don’t let the big sign fool you. Its a pretty small restaurant but both times we went there was a booth for us to sit right away.
I ordered the S.O.S which is biscuits and sausage gravy (they only serve that on Saturday and Wednesday.) I also ordered the home fries and hot chocolate. Clark ordered the french toast, eggs, and sausage link with orange juice. The food is great, the service is great, and the food comes out really fast. I will say the first time we went I got the country ham and it wasn’t my favorite. I think that is the only complaint I had.
This outfit, oh my gosh I love this poncho. I picked it up at Forever 21 the other day and it is amazing. I just love it. It’s soft and warm. I love the tribal print, I love that it’s a turtle neck. I told Clark that this poncho is the essences of me. I really just love it and as soon as I put it on I felt it was meant to be mine.   Anyways I also got these jeans at Forever 21 the other day and they are perfect. They are stretchy and were only $10 and a really good color. I love myself a good pair of jeans but they need to have give, and these do. Anyways happy Tuesday.

Freezing cold

This week has been a cold one here in Fayetteville, NC! It’s been freezing. Highs of 20 degrees and lows of 5 degrees. If you don’t believe me just take a look at my instagram account (@carleewengel), everything has been covered in ice. This photos were taken last weekend and although it was a little warmer than this past week it was pretty cold. This isn’t my favorite outfit, I think it might be the rolled up cardigan sleeves or the way I am wearing the hat. But hey it was freezing so the hat needed to cover my ears.

This week I was at the mall and I went into forever 21 and I found the best thing ever. A poncho! Guys this poncho is the essences of me. I told Clark that if he ever has to describes me based on a piece of clothing it would be this tribal print turtle neck poncho. He was laughing at me but I will probably be wearing it all weekend! Haha.

10 blog post that you should never write

Let me preface this post a little bit. This list is mainly blog post that I don’t write or I don’t click on when they pop up in my reader. Now sometimes I do read posts, like the 10 below, that pop up in my reader and maybe it’s because the title is intriguing or I just really love that persons blog so I want to know what they are saying. But this post is in no way telling any blogger what to post. It’s just me making a little of blog post I don't like/would never write and I just decided to title it sometime super daunting haha. Anyways no hard feeling if you write these post, okay? Also, don’t hold it over my head if, in the future, I write one of these post! Okay peace out!
1. The instagram round up. A lot of people do this and I have nothing against them (some of my favorite blogs to it actually.) But for me, if a follower wanted to see your instagram photos then they would follow you on instagram (which they probably already do.) Or they would click your instagram button on your sidebar and look that way.

2. The smashed together list. I don’t have anything against list. But then a list in smashed together one item write after another. 1. like this 2. for explain. The thing is, I used to do this with my recipes but then I realized that saving a little space on a blog post (which really doesn't mean anything.) Verses allowing my readers to be able to read post better. The latter wins out.

3. Recap of that TV show last night. I usually never click on blogpost that are just a recap of a popular TV show, like the Bachelor, Nashville, America’s Next Top Model etc. These are all TV shows that I enjoy but I don’t want to read a post about it, if I want to know what happened I will find a way to watch the show or at least watch the highlights. However, I will read a reality TV spoiler any day...

4. A post with all writing and no photos. I love post with stories and intensive writing especially if I am interested in the subject. However I think each post needs at least one photo. Even if it’s not directly related to the subject.

5. A post with all photos and no writing. Opposite above. I love photos just as much as the next person and I take and share lot’s of photos on this blog. But I hate when there are just photos and no text at all. I want a little bit of context with the photos or a funny anecdote or at the very least a caption with the photos.

6. Wishlist. I make wishlist too but I don’t share them on the blog and I know wishlist shared in cyberspace are centered around a theme or season and sometimes they are pretty collection of things to look at. But 9 times out of 10 I won’t click through to read wishlist on other blogs.

7. Giveaways every other day. I have done a few giveaways on my own blog and some giveaways I totally enter because they are so rad but when I scroll through your blog and see you are hosting a giveaway every other post it is a big turn off for me. Even is the giveaway is attached to other post, it just seems like a ploy to gain to reader (which it is and can be awesome) but come on do you really need to have one every other time you post.

8. That Pinterest round up. I guess I am just not a big fan of round ups but like I stated about instagram I will follow you there if I want to know what you are doing there.

9. Office/fall outfit/christmas cookies inspiration list, etc. This I hate as well. Just the list of _____ inspiration. With really grainy photos that were pulled from the internet. I mean all those cookies/decor/outfits have already been done. I don’t really need to see you ‘round them up’ in a list format with grainy photos even if they are what you are inspired by right now. Pin them on pinterest you don’t need to share them on your blog and like I said before if I want to follow you on pinterest I will.

10. The gift guide. I know these are super popular right now but usually if I see the words gift guide in your title post show up on my reader most likely I won’t be clicking on it. Unless there is some groundbreaking difference then all the other gifts guides out there. And most of the time each person you are gifting something too is unique and bloggers gift guide don’t really do the trick at least in my experience.

Happy Thursday!

Butterfinger heart peanut butter cookies

My favorite Valentine candy is the Butterfingers hearts. I am not a huge fan of Butterfingers but the Butterfinger hearts are the perfect amount of crushed candy and chocolate. Anyways this year Clark got me a package of Butterfinger hearts and so did my mom so I had a lot of extra hearts! And I thought of the perfect way to use the extra chocolate hearts, cookies!!!!
Cookie recipe:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1/3 flour
1 egg

Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients.
2. Roll dough into 1 inch balls
3. Set over to 375 degrees
4. Place dough balls onto cookie sheet and refrigerate until the oven is preheated.
5. Once oven is preheated, bake cookies for 12 minutes.
6. Once the cookies are done, place chocolate hearts into each dough ball right away.
7. Place on a wire rack to let cool.
THEY ARE BEST WARM!!
Basically I used this recipe but instead of kisses I used butterfinger hearts! They were great and once they cooled completely I would microwave for about 10 seconds to get the chocolate melted a little more and they are still perfect. Yummy!!

Love Day

Hey guys, how was your long weekend and Valentine’s Day? Our weekend was great. It was my birthday on Thursday the 12th and it was really great. I woke up to a surprise banner from Clark and breakfast. We had stew and corn bread for dinner and then Clark surprised me with ice cream cake for birthday dessert. Then I opened presents from Clark and my family. Also Les sent me the best heart garland for Vday and my bday and I love it and it’s hanging above the big window in my apartment and I think I might keep it up all year because it’s that awesome. Hearts aren’t just for vday.
Then for Valentine’s Day we kept it super low key. Clark actually came down with a cold but he still made me dinner: steak, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. It was delicious. He got me pink roses and a ballon that looks like a dozen roses! I got him a monkey ballon, some candy, and the movie the Goonies. He loves that movie and I had never seen in and lately he has been saying how much he want’s me to watch it so I got it for him for Vday and he watched it that evening. We also went out to the best local place for Valentine’s Day brunch it’s a place called Lindy’s if your ever in town. Super good breakfast.
Clark drew two more illustrations for me for the mugs that are in the shop. Did you know that he does most of the mug illustrations. Turns out, I am not very good at drawing animals drinking out of mugs. But I am working on 4 new mugs designs that are not animals. But anyways just thought I would give him a shout-out because Clark is awesome and also awesome at drawing and illustrating. One of the animals that he did he said “it is his best one yet.” so look out for it because it’s impressive.
Happy Monday and Happy Presidents Day!!

My DIY Valentine’s Day card for Clark

So I had a card designed and already planned to give it to Clark for Valentine’s Day but at the last minute I scraped that idea and decided that I wanted to make Clark a more personal Valentine’s Day card. Since I make/design greeting cards for a living, I feel like there is more pressure for me to pull through for my family and friends. But usually what I come up with is nothing special. So lately, instead of trying to out do myself in the designing department I have been doing something different and this is one of those cases.
Also, don’t worry Clark totally won’t look at my blog between now and tomorrow so the surprise won’t be ruined. I printed out a photo of Clark and I on card stock. Folded the card and then got busy painting the card and the envelope to customize it. Clark and I always say “I LOVE YOU MORE! CALLED IT.” So I thought it was the perfect little quote to paint on the card.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to those of you who are ahead in time. Doing anything special for Vday?
