Summer heat

July is here! We are feeling the heat and humidity here in North Carolina. I wore this outfit last Friday when Clark and I went out for an early dinner to Joe’s Crab Shack. We were celebrating. Clark passed his military board that he had on Friday with flying colors! So now he is promotable to sergeant and I am super proud of him. Then he got to come home from work early and we both knew that we needed to go out and celebrate this accomplishment. So Clark picked the spot and Joe’s Crab Shack it was.
At Joe’s Crab Shack I had their new summer seafood platter. It had french fries, fried halibut, calamari, and corn on the cob. Clark had a lobster and crab bucket. We originally sat outside. It wasn’t overly hot and we sat in the shade. But then the humidity snuck up on us and we were hot and sweaty and started to get headaches. So we moved inside with no problem.
We started a new series on Netflix this week and it was House of Cards. My older brother recommended it and after one episode I was hooked. Clark thought it started a little slow. It takes a while to get to know the characters but I am a fan. In other news, I think I lost my favorite lace tank. And I am super sad about it ugh. I have searched my closet, car, the suit cases, laundry. The last time I remember having it was on vacation when I wore it to the FGL concert. If I can’t find it, I guess I will assume that I left it at the hotel in Charleston, SC. But I am not giving up hope yet. Fingers crossed it turns up. Hope everyone has a great Thursday and I am super excited for the 4th of July tomorrow.

Down by the river

Over the weekend we headed over to Arnette Park to enjoy the river and let our dog play a little bit. The park is actually really nice. There is sports fields, bbq and picnic areas, a frisbee golf course which we have actually played with our friend before, and a trail down to the river. It has been really hot and humid here so it sounded like something fun to do, so we went after dinner. Once we got down there the shore was really muddy. I took off my shoes so I could walk in the water and it was so muddy my feet sunk in a good 6-12 inches.
Although I wasn’t a big fan of the muddy water, Knox didn’t seem to mind. He was digging in the muddy for the tree roots and we got some pretty funny videos of him doing so. At first I thought it might be something that was alive.. like a water snake. I read that there are water moccasins in the Cape Fear River and I was a little nervous but we were okay and we didn’t come up on any snakes. Just a lot of mosquitos, once again I forgot the bug spray.
These are strictly iPhone photos and edited color and lighting a little in Photoshop. Have you heard of the iPhone app TimerCam? It is a self timer camera app for your phone. The photos of both Clark and I are taken with TimerCam. Check it out if you haven’t. Once we got home we had to give Knox a bath because he was so muddy. He actually doesn’t really mind taking a bath. When he was a baby he hated it. But now, after he gets really muddy or dirty (usually from playing at the dog park) he knows he has to take a bath. Once we get him in the bathroom he will usually jump in the bath tub on this own. I am sure he is thinking “let’s get this over with.”

I am excited for the long weekend.

Project 365: June

For my 365 project this year my theme is: Clark and I or us. It is crazy to think that we are halfway done with this year already. This project has been really fun to do and look back on and see how Clark and I have changed in just 6 short months and also see all the fun things we have done together. I am definitely glad I am keeping this up and at this point I don’t feel burnt out at all. I am glad I picked a subject for my 365 project that I actually wanted to have photographs of (and keep), it makes the project so much easier.

While May was the month of taking evening walks to go get ice cream, June was the month of relaxing by the pool and taking a vacation to Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. June is also the month of some of my favorite photos to date of Clark and I. I can’t wait to do a round up of my favorite photos from this project at the end of the year.

1. Forgot to take a photo during the day so night sleeping photo it is.
2. Walking to Rite Aid to pick up my first roll of disposable camera photos.

6. Walking before the big race.
