Pack it up and ship it out

Hey! So I am currently sitting on my floor in a furniture-less apartment in NC. We are flying out to move to Italy in just a few more days and all our stuff got packed up on Thursday! So with the military you get two shipment for oversea moves. One is Express (that should get there in 3-4 weeks) and the other is Household Goods (which arrives in 6-8 weeks.) One goes by plane and the other by boat. Our Express baggage was suppose to get picked up on Thursday it was just a handful of boxes worth of stuff, TV, rugs, extra clothes, some kitchen stuff. Stuff that you want to arrive sooner. So those packers came at 9:30am and were getting the work done. I then got a call at about 10am that the household goods (HHG) shippers were coming on Thursday as well even though they weren't suppose to come until Friday! So we scrambled to get our stuff put away that we didn't want shipped and things more organized than they were. Because the households good people come through and basically pack everything that they can see! So anything you don't want packed you need to put in another room or closet.
It was hectic and while we had a few snacks (read bananas and granola bars) we didn't actually eat a real meal all day because we didn't prepare for the HHG shippers on Thursday and people were packing up our stuff from 9:30 until 5:30 it was a long day. But when all was said and done it was kind of nice to just get all the stuff packed on one day because then I didn't have to worry about it for another day and it just happened and you just have to roll with the punches sometimes. Besides we had all day Friday for fun stuff like hanging with friends and watching fireworks! I took so many photos of our stuff being packed, mostly because it is so weird to see all the stuff you own packed up and wrapped in paper and then put into wooden crates that you know are going to ship across the Atlantic Ocean by boat!
