Saturnia Hot Springs

This is one of my all time favorite places I have ever been! It is about 4 hours north from where we live. We left Thursday night after work and stayed close to the hot springs so we could get up and go first thing in the morning before they got too busy. We got to the hot springs around 8 am and there was just one other couple there. We stayed for about 1.5 hours and by the time we left there was probably 30+ people. Friday was also a holiday for Italians so a lot of people had the day off and these hot springs are free and gorgeous and like 85-90+ degrees! It felt so nice in the middle of December.
I first saw a picture of these hot springs on Pinterest and it said they were in Tuscany italy. I was a little skeptical cause sometimes on Pinterest it’ll be like “look at this awesome island in the middle of this pink lake with a kangaroo sculpture on top” but turns out it’s all just photoshop. But these springs are real and like I said free!!! Since we went so early (to beat the crowds) there was a lot of steam coming off the water because the air was still so cold. It made for really cool photos though. The very last photo is of the entire hot springs from the opposite hillside when we were leaving the area around noon. No steam and a ton of more people.
This is definitely one of the places I recommend visiting most in Italy. You will need to have a car to get to it as it is kind of in the middle of nowhere Tuscany. A car gives you so much freedom and it is definitely the way I prefer to travel.

  1. This looks spectacular! What an amazing find. I wouldn't have thought Italy was known for hot springs!
