Chess Player

The last couple of days I have been contemplating what I want to do with my life and I have come up with a few goals that I have for myself. Career goals and personal goals alike. The problem is that the path that I am on right now isn't helping me reach any of the goals and dreams I have for myself. The thing is I don't know where to go from here. I worked really hard in high school to get into the school of my dreams, here the University of Washington. But, now I have reevaluated my goals and I am not on the right tract. I just don't know where to go from here. I feel like a chess player and I need to figure out my next move. Easier said then done though. I don't want to disappoint anyone but I want to start a new chapter in my life. I need to figure out how to get there.
Blouse: JCPenney. Jeans: IT. Boots: Old Navy.  Blazer: Target.
I can't wait to go home for the holidays. I know I said that in my last post too. But I am really excited. I realized that I have been posting outfits like crazy on my blog which is totally great. Then again, I want to post yummy recipes and DIY projects too which I haven't been able to do lately and it makes me sad. I do have a recipe that I will be posting later this week so look out for that.
I can't believe it is December already. There was some spots of sun here in Seattle this weekend so I could get away with not wearing a full winter coat. Which I don't think will be the case much longer. But that is okay, winter is a great season it will be full of hats, scarves, coats, and long socks. This is my last week of classes then finals week. I hope everyone enjoys their week. Happy Monday.
love, Carlee

  2. I could only imagine how cold it is there in Seattle. I have been there this time of year. It was bearable for me (maybe because I love Seattle) but definitely not for a lot of people I know. Haha. I can still getaway with cardigans here in LA.. despite the rain ;)

  5. If you feel like where you are headed is not where you want to be then you should definitely change it...it sucks to feel like you are letting people down by following your dreams, but at the end of the day it's your life and your future happiness on the line. And I speak from experience when I say that it's better to pursue your goals now, rather than waiting and hoping they will go away...because if it's something you feel passionate about it never will and years down the road you'll look back and regret that you didn't give it a try.

  8. Wow, this is one of the most heartfelt, real posts I've read in a while. You can really pick out the people who are true to themselves on the Internet, and it sounds like you are! I love reevaluating and setting goals. Are you planning to post them? I'd love to see what you come up with--I'm always inspired by other people's goals.

If you have a minute, we're hosting a giveaway on our blog tomorrow.

  9. hi carlee

what is it that you feel like you want to do? please don't feel like you're the only one! so many students get halfway (or all the way!) through school and then realize they want something entirely different. the most important thing is (responsibly) doing what makes you happy, and not trying to be something you're not just to please others. trust me, iv'e been there, and you can easily waste YEARS of your life trying to fit into this mold that you think people want you to be. not worth it!

    go for your dreams.

  11. Carlee,

You sound exactly like I did about four years ago. I worked my rear off in high school and did so many internships, volunteer hours, etc. Got into the school of my dreams to study veterinary medicine and had 6 years of diverse experience working in animal hospitals. Then one day, I woke up and realized the dream that I had since I was three years old, wasn't working for me anymore. I was so lost and devastated. I didn't have a plan B. It took some serious soul searching and volunteering in different fields to find out what I really wanted. But through it all, my family was supportive :-) Talk to others and focus on you!!! Hey...let's be honest, there are worse things!! It's been four years and I am starting a graduate program in a few months for special education, so I can teach :-) Follow your dreams, the money will come when you are doing what you love.

  12. Oh dear, I so understand what you're going through! I was the same way, worked really hard through high school and then changed tracks in college. (And now I'm back doing what I originally started out doing! Figures.) It does take a lot of time to figure out what you really want and Jenna above me has some great advice. (Although the money does not always come with what you love to do. I work with horses and people and it's such a money pit.) Good luck dear, I'm sure you'll end up somewhere doing something that you love.
(And I must say, I love this pair on pants on you, you have such long legs!)

  13. I'm going through a similar career path crisis right now. I graduated with my Bachelors in Interior Design, worked for a successful designer for 3 years and now I suddenly find myself considering graphic design. One thing I learned through all this is how important it is to explore in college. That's really what that time is for, exploring yourself. Take a couple classes that might not count for your degree, but interest you. Internship everywhere you can. Whatever you decide to do, have no regrets. You made the decisions in your life based on the best information you had at the time and those decisions are what allowed you to explore your current options today.

Found you through BBN, beautiful blog, now following.
