Positano

I have been wanting to go to Positano ever since we got to Italy. It's on the Amalfi Coast and so beautiful. A lot of celebrities actually vacation there. We had already been to Amalfi, we went in the summer with a tour group from base. But we decided to do Positano ourselves. We wanted to go on a nice day and we went on Saturday and it was absolutely perfect. 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. It is definitely a little touristy town, all the Italians spoke English which isn't common here in Naples. Everyone there is on vacation and it is a nice change of pace. Positano is only about 50 miles from our house but it takes 1:45 minuets to get there because the road is so windy along the cliffs and hillside leading down to the town. But is was 100% worth it and we will definitely go back.

The cliffside houses are as beautiful and magical as you would image and see in photos. Since we went in October there was plenty of parking (we paid $8 to park in a secure area.) But I heard in the summer it can get crazy and even the lots are filled to the brim and it's so busy that it is a major headache. But it was good for us this time of year! The weather was also great like I said. I don't know if it was warm enough to swim in the sea but people definitely were. It was warm enough to eat gelato. I actually don't know if gelato is ever a bad idea, any type of weather or times of year! haha

I totally know why celebrities vacation here. It really is so gorgeous and charming. We ate at one of the waterfront restaurants and it was delicious. Although compared to Napoli the food was rather expensive but that was so be expected so no big deal. We did have to pay 2 euro each way for the toll road but other than that it was way cheaper do to the trip ourselves then take a tour. And we got to stay as long as we wanted. We will definitely be heading back and I am sure our friends and family will want to see this beautiful hillside down when they come to visit.
