Venice, Italy

So I don't know why but for some reason I swear I had already written this post. But I searched through my phone and computer and it is nowhere to be found so maybe I dreamed that I wrote this post. Either way I wish it was already written haha. This is the final installment of my trip with my friend to northern Italy at the end of June. I just want to get caught up on posts! I don't think it will ever happen haha.

We flew in and out of the Venice Treviso airport. We first drove and explored the Dolomites, then spent a morning in Sirmione, and an afternoon in Verona, then headed onto Venice. We got to Venice in the evening and we stayed at the Best Western right by the train station so it was easy to get in and out of the city. We actually ended up buying the bus pass and taking the bus in and out of the city and taking the water bus around Venice which is by far the most convenient way to get around. So we went into the city in the evening and took the waterbus from the the bus stop to the main square and back and it was so pretty to get our first glimpse of the city in the evening as the sun was setting. It was also a lot less crowded and the weather was just perfect.

The next day we spent some times in Venice in the morning. Getting coffee, going to the lush store, seeing the only bridge left without a parapet. Then we took the waterbus out to Burano. Once back in Venice we made our way over to get ice cream at Suso which people had raved around. I got the cheesecake and it wasn’t my favorite. It had the little cheesecake bites in it which Italy gelato usually doesn’t and that is my favorite part about the cheesecake gelato no bits. Oh well.

The last day we were in Venice our flight didn’t leave until late so we got to go to the city again for a good bit. First I got my caricature done. I had seen the artist the day before and they were only 10 euro and I always like coming home with a unique souvenir even if it is kitschy.  We of course had to try more gelato before leaving Venice. This time we had Gelato Fantasy and it was very good. Some of the best gelato I have had in Italy. Sometimes it all depends on the flavors you pick out as well. I would love to go back to Venice with Clark and do the gondola rides even though they are so expensive! Like 100 euro for 30 minutes. Crazy. Venice was lovely though!
