As you know we spent part of last weekend in Durham, NC and I knew one of the places I wanted to check out while there was Duke University. My family is a huge fan of Duke basketball, especially my little brother and dad. I knew they would be jealous of my visit there. First we stopped at the athletic complex to see Cameron Indoor Stadium and the Krzyzewski Center. We also stopped in at the bookstore, which was one of the best decisions we made because there was a practice court inside and it was fun to get to walk on a Duke basketball court. Even if it wasn’t the real thing.
Next we made our way over to the Duke Chapel. If you google Duke University photos of the chapel are the most common on the image search. I have heard it is so beautiful and let me tell you it totally lived up to the hype. It is really tall and so goregous. The architecture and stone work as amazing. It was built in 1930 and cost around 2 million dollars to complete. I kept saying to Clark “we think this is amazing just image what the cathedrals are like in Europe that were built centuries ago.” I can’t image but hope someday I can the opportunity to visit Europe and see for myself.
We got to go inside the chapel and it was even more awesome then I imaged. We sat quietly and admired the beauty. There was also a couple with there family doing a wedding rehearsal at the front. In other news, this outfit is just perfect for our trip because I got some Duke colors going on with my dress. This is actually a black tank over a blue dress. The dress is pretty snug in the bust so I thought I would pair a tank over top as to not expose myself to anyone. I think I made the right choice.
Also thank you all for the sweet words and congrats on Tuesday’s post about Clark and I’s one year anniversary. I will be sharing wedding photos this weekend so be on the look out for that.
love, Carlee
